Tiffany Shorter (Rutherford, 2005) has been appointed as the new Chair for the New York Chapter of the University of Kent in America, and will be replacing Brenna Bozarth.
Tiffany studied at Kent’s Brussels School of International Studies and graduated in 2006 with a Master of Laws in International Law with International Relations.
What have you been up to since graduation?
This year I launched RightLink Group, an international trade and public affairs advisory firm. I look forward to utilising my experience in international business development and political analysis to help small businesses seeking to enter the global market. Prior to RightLink Group, I promoted trade and foreign direct investment at UK Trade and Investment and offered insight on public policy as a guest columnist for ‘The Washington Times’. As a political commentator, I have been featured in CCTV AMERICA, FOX News, The Sean Hannity Show, BBC, CNN, Inside Edition, and ‘The Telegraph’. Along with work and political activities, I earned an Executive Master of Public Administration at the Columbia University.
What motivated you to get involved with the University of Kent in America?
I wanted to reconnect with the University of Kent, meet fellow alumni and grow the community in New York City. The added bonus is the opportunity to connect to the alumni chapters across the country.
What would you like to see the chapter achieve in the next 12 months?
The first priority is to create a sense of community among New York City alumni by hosting networking events and social gatherings throughout the year.
What is your favourite memory of Kent?
The most memorable time at Kent was a student organised trip to Den Haag and visiting the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice. I got to bond with my classmates, walk through one of the most historical cities in the Netherlands and meet legal practitioners shaping international law.
