We are pleased that members of the University of Kent alumni community have been recognised in the King’s 2026 Birthday Honours.
The Honours Lists mark the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the UK.
Sir Alastair King (BA Law, 1991) was awarded a knighthood in the 2026 King’s Birthday’s Honours for his services to Pensions Reform, the Promotion of International Business and Voluntary and Charitable Service.
Ian Drysdale (MBA, 1999) received the Member of the Order of the British Empire for his services to policing. Ian spent more than 26 years at Kent Police, serving as the most senior member of civilian staff.
Liam Preston (MA International Security and the Politics of Terror, 2011) received a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to the Baby Loss Community. He is the Company Director of Dad Still Standing, a podcast and training organisation which has developed a toolkit to help bereaved parents.
