Whilst studying at the University of Kent, alumnus Carys Wall, decided to create a portrait of Canterbury in audio and their soundscape even made it onto BBC 6 Music.
Hear what Carys had to say about their project:
“I was a student at Kent from 2015 to 2019, studying Liberal Arts.
“When I first moved to Canterbury, I encountered all these specific sounds and accents that were very different to my hometown. So before leaving, I decided to make a portrait of the city in audio. The result is a rhythmic soundscape, looping the sounds of the city, from the Kentish market-sellers to the cathedral bells. Canterbury Tales was made for BBC New Creatives and it was recently played on BBC 6 Music.”
