Peter Simpson (Rutherford, 1970) has published the second volume in his England in the Middle Ages series of books, The Angevins: 1154-1216.
This volume goes in depth into life, art and science in the period and documents the reigns of Henry III, Richard I and King John. At 754 pages with 200 illustrations and maps and nearly 500 footnotes it is thorough but readable for scholars, students and the general history reader. It is preceded by The Normans and will be followed by The Plantagenets in two volumes.
