The Centre for Professional Practice is pleased to announce that the Medway Campus hosted an event by Health Education Kent Surrey and Sussex (HE KSS) on Monday 10th March 2014 to promote the importance of dental healthcare for elderly patients. With an ever growing aging population and estimates of over 345,000 people expected to live to over 100 years of age by 2031, it is vital that healthcare professionals are aware of current and contemporary dental healthcare methods.
A range of healthcare professionals from across the Medway area attended the event including nurses, carers and healthcare assistants. The event was led by special care dentist Heather Lloyd and included a range of expert guest speakers which included the Centre for Professional Practice’s Honorary Professor Ken Eaton and BSc Primary Dental Care graduate Maggie Nash. The event was well received by the attendees with feedback noting the event as informative, interesting and contributing to improved professional practice.
Health Education Kent Surrey and Sussex hope this event will be a launching point for their long-term project to improve the standards of dental healthcare for elderly patients across the counties of Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
