Sandra and Sheena headed up to Leeds last week for the annual AVS Conference, run by Academic Venue Solutions.
Over two days (5 and 6 December), they networked with fellow event professionals from over 50 universities and attended engaging talk sessions, interactive workshops and discussion groups. Delegates even explored the Leeds Christmas market and saw the city come to life at night.
On Friday, Sheena joined an expert panel and discussed navigating the varied relationships with central timetabling teams and the effect this has on the commercial side of universities. Helping the conference delegates to understand the challenges around the demand for space from a commercial perspective, yet not being in control of that space.
The team enjoyed seeing what facilities the University of Leeds has to offer and came away with ideas for improving our very own conference and events packages at the University of Kent.
Quoted from Sandra’s LinkedIn post – “Wow, Academic Venue Solutions Conference 2024! What a fantastic and valuable time Sheena Butterworth and I had at the University of Leeds Cloth Hall, meeting up with all our wonderful colleagues from across over 50 universities. We really are a great bunch of experienced event professionals, with the best academic venues!”
We’ve recently become a featured venue for Academic Venue Solutions so it was the perfect opportunity to meet the team in person and discuss membership opportunities further.
We are looking forward to attending more events run by Academic Venue Solutions in 2025.
