The main aim of this apprenticeship is to increase diversity in the civil service, offering apprentices the opportunity to work in the heart of the government while earning a degree in Economics.

Role of Economics in Government

The central role played by economists in government will become increasingly important as we move towards new economic arrangements for the UK and the challenges associated with that.

  • Analysing evidence to inform policy
  • Advising on choices and alternatives
  • Bridging gaps between academia and government
  • Advising how markets work
  • Advising on macro-economic policy

Apprentices will complete their studies at the University of Kent – selected to deliver the programme because of the strength of our economics courses and the support we will offer to apprentices throughout their time on programme. We are incredibly proud to have been chosen as the provider of this programme, and excited to see the success of the first cohort!

Applications for the GES-DAP are open until January 20th 2019.
