Arts Success in the Kent Student Awards

Huge congratulations to students from the School of Arts who have been shortlisted in the Kent Student Awards 2014.

The initiative received over 200 nominations in nine categories this year and the judges were looking for students that have made a difference to people, communities or environments through dedication, innovation, understanding or skill.

All of this year’s shortlisted nominees have been invited to a Gala Dinner on 31st May where the winners and runners-up will be announced. In addition, one of the category winners will also be named Kent ‘Student of the Year’.

Within the School of Arts, the following students have been nominated:

  • Victoria Jolley, second year Drama and Theatre student, has been nominated for her outstanding contribution to sport development. Victoria was shortlisted based on her individual contribution to the Trampolining Club as President, coach and gold-medal winning competitor.
  • Jonathan Williams, final year Film student, has been nominated in the category of ‘Outstanding Student Entrepreneur of the Year’ for his freelance design work and clothing brand – Exit Left Apparel.
  • Rob Linton, final year Drama and Theatre student, has been nominated for his outstanding contribution to media and communications. This nomination is based on managing Kent’s award-winning student TV station that he set up.
  • Leila Hajipour-Sangtabi, final year Drama and Theatre student, has been nominated for her outstanding contribution to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity. Leila has successfully set up a support group and organises awareness events for anxiety and depression sufferers.
