Professor Tom Henry, Director of the Rome School of Classical and Renaissance Studies and Professor of History of Art, and Kostas Gravanis, currently studying for a PhD in History and Philosophy of Art, will take part in a symposium in Rome in February, entitled ‘New Perspectives on the Stanza di Eliodoro’.
The event, organised by the University of Kent’s Rome School of Classical and Renaissance Studies in conjunction with The American University of Rome, will explore new perspectives regarding the decoration of the Stanza di Eliodoro in the Vatican Palace, to mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Raphael (1483-1520).
Short papers will be presented by Tom and Kostas, as well as Professor Paul Gwynne, Professor of Medieval and Renaissance Studies at The American University of Rome, and Dr Claudia La Malfa, Visiting Lecturer at the University of Kent, and Adjunct Professor of History of Art at The American University of Rome. The papers will present new proposals relating to the date and iconography of the most beautiful of Raphael’s Vatican rooms.
‘New Perspectives on the Stanza di Eliodoro’ will take place on Tuesday 11 February at 7pm, in The American University of Rome’s Auriana Auditorium, Via Pietro Roselli 16, Rome.
