As the Edinburgh Festival continues, we’re thrilled to announce that our own graduates have received first-class reviews from the press for their performances.

Jimmy McGhie, who graduated with a BA (Hons) in Drama in 2002, performed his 9th show at the Fringe, called – appropriately enough – Jimmy McGhie BA (Hons) at the Pear Tree. The Scotsman newspaper included his show in its ‘Best Comedy Shows to See This Year’ feature.

Laura Lexx, who graduated with an MDrama in 2009, has been performing  Knee Jerk at the Gilded Balloon. The Edinburgh Festival Magazine rated her show a maximum 5 out of 5 stars.

Tom Houghton, who graduated with an MDrama in 2008, has been performing That’s What I Go To School For at the Pleasance Jack Dome, was rated 5 out of 5 stars by The Sunday Express newspaper.

The Noise Next Door, a collective consisting of Kent graduates, have been performing their Comedy Lock-In at the Pleasance Courtyard, with was awarded another 5 out of 5 stars by the Wee Review. The collective have also been performing The Noise Next Door’s Really Really Good Afternoon Show Through Time!, also at the Gilded Balloon, which One4Review rated a satisfying four out of five stars. The Noise Next Door comprise the following: Sam Pacelli, who graduated with an MDrama in 2008; Tom Livingstone, also graduated with an MDrama, 2008; Matt Grant, who graduated with a BA (Hons) in Film in 2008; and Robin Hatcher, who graduated with an MDrama in 2013.

Finally, Tom Parry, who graduated with a BA (Hons) in Drama and English and American Literature in 2003, performed his show Parryoke! at the Pleasance Courtyard. His show was reviewed by The Guardian which awarded him four out of five stars, and claimed ‘we need bringers of joy… and Parry is one of the best around.’
