Dr Margherita Laera, Senior Lecturer in Drama and Theatre in the School of Arts, will be in Milan next week to lead a translation workshop to translate the play Portrait of an Arab Woman Looking at the Sea, by award-winning playwright Davide Carnevali, from Monday 18 to Friday 22 February 2019.
The play explores a relationship across the Mediterranean between a European man and a North African woman, a metaphor for European-Arabic relations. The workshop was commissioned by EU-funded Creative Europe project Fabulamundi – Playwriting Europe Beyond Borders to promote the play overseas.
