During each episode, Olly Double interviews a Kent drama graduate working in the arts about their careers and how they established themselves within the sector; from graduation up to the present day, Olly discusses how their degree helped prepare them for their creative careers.
This episode, Olly interviews Bruce Langley, who plays Technical Boy in the Amazon Prime series American Gods, which is available on Amazon Prime Video. After graduating in 2014, Bruce lived and worked in London, taking on many different jobs and immersing himself in various acting disciplines from kids parties to improvisation, even including some parkour! He outlines the importance of throwing himself into lots of different things, and it was through this that he came to be in contact with his current agent, who also got him his audition for American Gods in 2017.
When looking back at his time at Kent, Bruce highlighted the importance of getting practical experience outside the course. “It’s a really safe environment to fail and get experience… work out what’s working and what isn’t, and then make the improvements necessary, and go do it again consistently”.
