As the end of the University Careers and Employability Services’ Creative Careers week draws to an end, there have been so many great events and workshops that have taken place this week, including the launch of the tenth episode of Olly Double’s Proper Job Gradcast.
During each episode, Olly Double interviews a Kent drama graduate working in the arts about their careers and how they established themselves within the sector; from graduation up to the present day, Olly discusses how their degree helped prepare them for their creative careers.
The tenth episode coincides with the Creative Careers Week, and features guest, George Weightman, professional actor working in theatre, film, and voice actor for audiobooks. Olly notes, “George talks about how studying Drama at Kent helped him develop the skills he uses in his job, and how a penchant for doing voice has got him work – and helped him out in life, particularly during an incident at a protest march! He also talks about how he’s kept his career going through lockdown, including installing a recording studio at home.”

Last month, Olly Double spoke at a TedX event hosted by London Business School. Olly’s talk, ‘Why stand-up is more theatrical than theatre‘ is available to watch on YouTube and has had almost 40,000 views since it’s release last month.
