Professor Mattias Frey, Head of Film and Media in the School of Arts, has been interviewed by local news station KMTV about the UK Government’s Film and TV Production Restart Scheme, which will provide a £500m boost to the UK Film and TV industries following disruption caused by COVID-19.

In the interview, Mattias explains how the UK Government’s Film and TV Production Restart Scheme will help film production in the UK, and how the shutdown has affected various aspects of the industry as a whole.

Mattias says: ‘Film production has a huge ripple effect. Everything that film production needs, from cameras to studio space, to simply getting catering has been affected by the shutdown […] Those few films that have been in production or post-production during the pandemic were able to go forward, but it terms of getting new films shot, getting studio space and location permits, to be able to actually film, those things have been completely cut down.’
