Olly Double discusses lockdown and comedy on Partly Political Broadcast podcast

Dr Olly Double, Reader in Drama in the School of Arts, has been interviewed on the latest episode of the Partly Political Broadcast podcast, entitled ‘Over by Christmas – Russian Interference, Vaccines, Brexit Fallout and Dr Oliver Double on the Existential Threat Facing the Comedy Circuit’. The podcast is written and hosted by Tiernan Douieb, a Kent alumnus who completed his BA (Hons) in Drama and Theatre in 1999.

Partly Political Broadcast is a (mostly) weekly podcast that combines politics and comedy in a way that might seem pointless in today’s farcical day and age, but the difference is on this podcast the humour is intentional. Every episode has a joke filled look at the previous week’s political news alongside in-depth interviews with political guests who fully explain and discuss current issues.

In the episode, Olly talks about the effect of the COVID-19 lockdown on the comedy industry. Olly also discusses the effect of lockdown on universities, and what Kent has been doing to make sure the students still get a good experience.
