Dr Frances Guerin, Senior Lecturer in Film, Dr Ben Thomas, Reader in Art History, and Dr Sophie Quirk, Senior Lecturer in Drama, will host a webinar entitled ‘Translating Culture Online‘ on Tuesday 28 July 2020 at 2pm.

The webinar is part of the University of Kent’s business and innovation gateway’s Covid-19 Business Recovery Response Webinar Series.

Artists, cultural institutions and other entertainment sectors such as sport and tourism, along with audiences alike are coming to terms with a world in which being present with an art work or at a performance is not currently possible. Is it possible for art and culture to be translated to the virtual and online domains? Should we even attempt to replicate the experience of being in the presence of art and culture? Or should we seek analogous forms of exposure? Is the current climate pushing artists and events to create radical new, online specific work? Frances, Ben and Sophie will also be joined by Deirdre Wells OBE, CEO of Visit Kent.

This two-and-a-half hour webinar, led by critics, curator and practitioners in the School of Arts, will include a 30 minute Q&A, followed up by a 30 minute networking session where delegates will be able to dive deeper into the topics raised.
