Graduate Theatre Company GOLKK launches 30-Day Creative Calendar

GOLKK Creative Calendar

GOLKK Theatre, one of the Graduate Theatre Companies sponsored by the School of Arts, has launched their new project, the 30-Day Creative Calendar, today, Monday 1 June.

GOLKK’s mission is to create a community of sharing, and during COVID-19, they have decided to take this mission online to encourage as many people as possible to stay creative, stay active and stay connected during the lock-down. GOLKK began by curating their first e-exhibition ‘quARTine’, celebrating the work of artists inspired by the lockdown. They then went on to launch #getupwithgolkk – a series of live streams on Instagram, giving people an opportunity to try out GOLKK’s practice in their own homes. In response to requests for more livestreams, and more activities to try, GOLKK launched their 30-Day Creative Calendar.

The aim of the 30-Day Creative Calendar is for participants to connect body, mind and creativity. GOLKK will explore 30 days of at-home activities, challenging participants’ fitness, developing imagination, exploring mindfulness and giving participants their best tips for creating theatre.

When designing the calendar, GOLKK have focused on the core elements of their practice that they wanted to share: developing imagination; creating from nothing, and approaches to devising theatre; physical fitness, and a deeper connection between mind and body; and wellbeing and self-care. The calendar is for anyone who wants to try something new, and each of the tasks can be adapted for any level of experience. All are welcome to take part in the project, and participants can share their daily achievements by tagging @golkk on social media.
