Lupino Film Club goes online

As the world adjusts to life under lockdown, staff and students in the School of Arts have begun a virtual version of the Lupino Film Club.

The Lupino is the School of Arts’ own dedicated 62-seat cinema. The cinema is named after Ida Lupino, one of the most prominent female filmmakers working during the 1950s in the Hollywood studio system. Alongside screening films for students studying in the Department of Film, the cinema also hosts a weekly film club, showing significant, rare and much-loved movies suggested by staff and students.

Due to the migration of teaching and support online as part of the COVID-19 response, Dr Dominic Topp, Lecturer in Film, has organised an online version of the club for group viewings with online discussions and responses.

The films to be selected will be available to all Kent students via services including MUBI, Kanopy and Box of Broadcasts, which may be accessed with a student ID.
