We are pleased to announce that Paul Allain, Professor of Theatre and Performance in the School of Arts and Dean of the Graduate School, has been awarded the Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz (Witkacy) Prize for promoting Polish theatre abroad.

The Witkacy Prize is a major prize awarded by the Polish International Theatre Institute (ITI).

The prize is named in honour of the eccentric Polish philosopher, writer and dramatist Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, otherwise known as Witkacy.

Paul said that it ‘was a great honour’ to be given this recognition. He received the prize in a ceremony in Poland as part of Boska Komedia, an annual theatre festival held annually in Krakow, earlier this week on Sunday 9 December.
