Dr Mattias Frey, School of Arts’ Reader in Film, has been awarded the Philip Leverhulme Prize. Philip Leverhulme Prizes recognise the achievement of outstanding researchers whose work has already attracted international recognition and whose future career is exceptionally promising. The prize scheme carries with it an award of £100,000, which can be used for any purpose that advances the prize-holder’s research. Dr Frey will use the funds to further his ongoing research into the role that historical films play in art, society and understanding history.
