- The first 1,800 eligible undergraduate and postgraduate applicants (including KMMS students) are guaranteed a room offer.

How do I apply?
KMMS (Kent and Medway Medical School) and MPharm students will need to apply through their dedicated application links.
Step-by-Step Application Guide
Step 1: Log in
Once applications open in January, log in to your My Accommodation Portal and create a new application for your chosen year. Make sure you use your Kent email address and check it regularly so you don’t miss important updates.
Group Applications: If you want to live with friends, each student must submit their own accommodation application. You can then follow the group application steps on the returning students webpage.

Step 2: Choose your preferences
During your application, you can select four room options in order of preference:
Tips for choosing your room:
- Consider different areas of campus (everything is within a 10–15 minute walk)
- Only select rooms you would be happy to live in
- Research room types and locations before deciding (Self-catered/Catered/En-suite/Shared facilities/LGBTQ+)
- Think about your budget – see our Budgeting for accommodation blog

Step 3: Submit
Once you’ve submitted your application, you’re all done. It’s that easy!
We will email you by the end of January 2026 to let you know if you’ve secured a guaranteed offer. If you don’t receive this email, don’t worry, it simply means you didn’t secure a guaranteed offer, but you may still receive one later.
Step 4: Receiving Your Offer
Starting in late March/early April 2026, we will send accommodation offers (including details like your block) to all applicants, based on the order in which applications were received. We usually start sending offers from late March, but offers are released in batches, so please be patient. When your offer is available, we will email your Kent account to let you know, so make sure you check your inbox (and spam folder) regularly.
Accepting Your Offer
Once you receive your accommodation offer, you will need to log in to your My Accommodation Portal and accept or decline the offer within 48 hours.
Not happy with your offer?
If you’re not happy with the accommodation you’ve been offered, don’t panic, and don’t decline your offer straight away. Declining your offer means you won’t automatically receive another one. Instead, contact the Accommodation team for advice.

Missed the Deadline?
The University will try to accommodate as many students as possible, so if you apply for accommodation after January 2026, you’ll no longer be guaranteed a room, however you may still be in with a change of securing accommodation on campus, subject to availability.
