Engineering Quench Resilience via Topological Transitions: a Proposal

I am presenting a poster at the European Conference on Applied Superconductivity on Thursday – my group’s first foray into the applied superconductivity research. It presents work carried out primarily by Phil Whittlesea (Kent) in collaboration with Chris Hooley (St Andrews), Adrian D. Hillier (RAL) and James F. Annett (Bristol). In it we propose that chemically-tuning certain superconductors to a topological transition state may help make them more resilient to quenches. To my knowledge this is the first proposal of an application of topological transitions outside the field on quantum information processing. Follow this link for a PDF of the poster. Supplemental material (animations) will also be available there shortly.
