My name is Kunphatu Sakwit, a second-year PhD student from Bangkok, Thailand. I’m currently doing a PhD in sociology. Before starting university here, I had travelled to the UK twice for short English summer courses. After finishing my first degree in Bangkok, I did my master’s here in the UK and graduated with an MSc with Merit in social and cultural theory. I went back to Thailand and worked as an education counsellor, and a part time lecturer of economics for tourism management at a university in Bangkok. I want to be a university lecturer in Thailand which requires a PhD. Fortunately, I have been awarded the Royal Thai Government Scholarship to study sociological theory. Here I am! I am studying my PhD at UKC where I live and study happily. Coming to Kent is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.
