Empowering Participants throughout Research Collaborations

Dr. Elke Van Hellemont is a lecturer in criminology at the University of Kent, UK. Her talk is about the making of the ethnographic film: Bisso, The Black Gangs of Brussels’  (Audio: French, Dutch subtitles). It  represents a collaboration between Congolese gang-associated men, Brussels’ police, researchers and Belgian media outlets.

Prof. Dr. Nadine Engels is a professor of teacher education at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, BE. Her talk ‘Blurring the Boundaries between Research, Practice and Learning in Education. Challenges and Opportunities’ is about collaborative practitioner inquiry in schools in Brussels, involving teachers, students and researchers in processes of intergenerational learning and research.
