Researching Deviance Online

This third seminar focussed on the challenges encountered by qualitative oriented criminologists while researching deviant, hard-to-reach populations online, whether through social media platforms like Instagram or by online interviewing and interaction through different communication tools.
First, Cosimo Sidoti (Utrecht University) explained how he used Instagram to recruit, interact and interview Italian trappers.
Second, Daniel Beizsley (Spotlight on Corruption) talked about how he used LinkedIn to research corporate deviance, and in particular managers and employees of the European Investment Bank.
