Elena is co-founder and Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics\/gec\/\">Global Europe Centre<\/a> (Professional Studies).<\/p>\n<p>Elena&#8217;s research interests include EU foreign policies including the European Neighbourhood Policy and Eastern Partnership Initiative in particular, European Security Policy; EU governance, EU-Russia relations, Eurasia, democracy and democracy promotion.<\/p>\n<p>Elena is member of the International Advisory Board for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.globsec.org\/globsec2015\">GLOBSEC<\/a>\u00a0Central European Strategy Council; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lse.ac.uk\/IDEAS\/Projects\/Dahrendorf-Symposium\/Dahrendorf-Symposium.aspx\">LSE Dahrendorf<\/a> Professorial Fellow, visiting Professor of the College of Europe (Natolin), and Belarusian State University. Elena is also trustee and member of executive committees for BASEES and CEELBAS, and a co-founder of the Eastern Partnership Advancement Centre (EPAC) in Brussels. Elena works closely with the European Commission, EEAS, House of Lords, European Parliament and national governments of the Eastern region. She is also a member of \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics\/gec\/\">the Global Europe Centre<\/a>. Her research focuses on bargaining power in relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, within the broader conceptual framework of changing power dynamics between the EU and non-EU actors in the eastern region. Specific case studies of her research are: democracy and human rights promotion; negotiations over the Association Agreement and Azerbaijan\u2019s WTO accession; and security co-operation concerning the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Eske\u2019s PhD is supervised by Professor Elena Korosteleva and Professor Richard Whitman.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prior to commencing her PhD research, Eske obtained her MA in European Union Studies at the University of Ghent. He is Deputy Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics\/gec\/\">Global Europe Centre<\/a>. He is also Visiting Professor at the University of Leuven (KULeuven), where he lectures on political developments in Central and Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Casier\u2019s research interests include EU-Russia relations (including energy), Russian foreign policy, European Neighbourhood Policy \/ Eastern Partnership and Europe and global change. He joined the University of Kent in September 2011. He is also Director of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics\/gec\">Global Europe Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Professor Whitman is also an Associate Fellow at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chathamhouse.org\/\">Chatham House<\/a>\u00a0(formerly known as the Royal Institute of International Affairs) and an Academic Fellow at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.epc.eu\/\">European Policy Centre<\/a>.
