{"id":836,"date":"2021-01-25T16:32:07","date_gmt":"2021-01-25T16:32:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentsportsci\/?p=836"},"modified":"2021-01-25T16:32:07","modified_gmt":"2021-01-25T16:32:07","slug":"phd-buddy-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentsportsci\/2021\/01\/25\/phd-buddy-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD buddy scheme."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Mentoring scheme for postgraduates<\/p>\n<p><strong>Have you heard about the new PhD buddy scheme?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Graduate and Researcher College is delighted to announce the launch of its mentoring scheme for postgraduates.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme aims to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Foster peer-peer support by bringing postgraduates together into mentoring pairs<\/li>\n<li>Help postgraduates develop peer groups during COVID, through networking events<\/li>\n<li>Train postgraduates in mentoring skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The benefits of the scheme are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learning new skills<\/li>\n<li>Working towards achieving goals with peer support<\/li>\n<li>Developing networks and hopefully friendships<\/li>\n<li>For mentors, sharing experiences to develop others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The scheme is designed to help support the personal development of both mentors and mentees. Applications for the scheme can be made\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=VvqpUTI_mkSnIT4_SapemlkSf-6tb8NIl7uqc-6EZ-pUNUNNVlRBVjJQQVpCRUpLWksxMVNKS0M5NC4u\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">here<\/a>, until January 29!.<\/p>\n<p>In January, participants will receive an email to inform them about their buddy (we will endeavour to achieve as many matches as we can). They will attend a briefing session and start meeting with their buddy.
