The event, titled \u2018From London 2012 to Paris 2024: Lessons learned from research into the social legacies of the Olympic and Paralympic games\u2019, took place on Wednesday 12 June in the newly created Kent-Paris Research Institute (KPRI) at Reid Hall, the University\u2019s postgraduate centre in Montparnasse.<\/p>\n
Delegates from\u00a010 different countries<\/strong>\u00a0took part.<\/p>\n The Symposium brought together\u00a0academics<\/strong>,\u00a0sports policy makers<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0sport national governing bodies<\/strong>\u00a0with the aim of inspiring\u00a0new research projects and collaborations<\/strong>.\u00a0 Participants were able to exchange knowledge on the\u00a0social legacies of the games<\/strong>\u00a0and discuss the lessons\u00a0Paris 2024\u00a0<\/a>could learn from\u00a0London 2012<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The event was co-hosted by\u00a0Dr Sakis Pappous<\/a>, from Kent\u2019s\u00a0School of Sport and Exercise Sciences<\/a>, in collaboration with the\u00a0French Olympic Academy<\/strong>, the\u00a0French Centre for Olympic Studies<\/strong>\u00a0and the University of Montpellier<\/strong>. Attendees were welcomed by\u00a0Professor Peter Brown<\/strong>, Academic Director of KPRI, as well as the Presidents of the French Olympic Academy and the French Centre for Olympic Studies.<\/p>\n Following its\u00a0success<\/strong>\u00a0this year, the symposium will become an\u00a0annual event<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a0Reid Hall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
