{"id":1264,"date":"2023-06-13T10:57:54","date_gmt":"2023-06-13T10:57:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentsportsci\/?p=1264"},"modified":"2023-06-13T10:57:54","modified_gmt":"2023-06-13T10:57:54","slug":"research-into-exercise-and-long-covid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentsportsci\/2023\/06\/13\/research-into-exercise-and-long-covid\/","title":{"rendered":"Research into exercise and long COVID."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sport-sciences\">School of Sport and Exercise Sciences<\/a> is running two studies investigating exercise-based interventions for people experiencing long COVID symptoms of breathlessness and fatigue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One study will investigate the impact of traditional Chinese training &#8216;QIGONG&#8217;. The study will involve 6 weeks of practising QIGONG, with a qualified QIGONG instructor. Classes will take place in the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences Chipperfield Building. Before and after the 6 weeks of QIGONG, participants will complete a walking fitness assessment along with questionnaires.<\/p>\n<p>The other study will investigate the impact of exercise in a group-based intervention. The study will involve attending 2 exercise sessions a week at the Sports Centre for a period of 6 weeks.The exercise classes will be led by qualified Kent Sport instructors.
