On Saturday 26th May, eight of the University of Kent’s second year Sports Therapy student’s had an exciting opportunity to put their learnt skills into applied practice when assisting with the end of season testing for England Korfball.
The students carried out a series of tests to determine functional stability, lower limb strength, balance, upper limb strength and agility in the elite players. These tests had been designed by the University of Kent’s Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Lecturer, Sadie Jones in collaboration with the new Head Coach for Korfball England, Rob Williams.
The tests completed by the University of Kent’s Sport Therapy students were aimed at improving performance and reducing injury risk in the England Squad ahead of their European Championship campaign this November.
Head Coach Rob Williams spoke highly of the work ethic of our students, and the England players were very positive and appreciative of the skills they had bought to the testing session.
The Sports Therapy students will now continue to gain invaluable experience through working directly with the squad, to develop a training programme based around the result they collected. This gives our students invaluable work experience with elite athletes in a professional environment, which will aid their own development and future career prospects.
