The best way to spend your weekend in Medway

Moving to a new place is exciting, but can also be a bit boring if you don’t know what is around. Here is our guide to keep you busy on the weekends.

1) Castle Hunting
We have some fantastic castles in the area of Medway. Head to Rochester castle or Upnor castle for some Instagram worthy pictures!

2) Snowboarding, Skiing, Tubbing and Tobogganing

3) Get active, make the Park run part of your weekend routine.
There is a well-attended park run in the Great Lines park. The run starts a 9:00am at takes you around this great park, run with friends or meet new friends at the event! 4) A Foodie Weekend
Head to Rochester for some culinary delights. The Italian: Olive e Capperi, comes highly recommended for the carb lovers! The flipping Frog does an amazing Sunday roast but be sure to book! The Shozna Indian restaurant also comes highly recommended for a great curry night.

5) The Historic Dockyard Chatham
The Dockyard is a great day out, particularly if the parents are visiting! For 400 years, the Royal Dockyard at Chatham made ships for the Royal Navy, you can now take a tour around the dockyward and step onto some of the historic ships and submarines. You can also take a tour of the call the midwife set. Use your student card to get free entry and discounted entry for your family and friends.

6) Watch the football

7) Retail Therapy
Worn all your best outfits in welcome week? You can head to Bluewater shopping centre for a great day out! Just a short train or bus journey away, it has a great range of shops and restaurants to enjoy….particularly on a rainy day!

8) Riverside Country Park
Find a bit of peace and quiet. Be sure to take a walk, run or bike ride around the beautiful riverside country park. It’s a great place to relax and escape just a few steps away from Liberty Quays.

9) Cinema

10) Arethusa Climbing Centre
Be adventurous. If you like a challenge head to the Arethusa climbing centre. The centre is open on alternate Saturday’s 12.30 – 20.00 hours and is just £6 for the bouldering room.
