A Peek at Our Recent Training with Garage Coffee

Sam from Garage Coffee shows staff how to pour the perfect latte

At Kent, making great coffee is a priority. Recently, the catering team came together for a coffee training session with new supplier, Garage Coffee, to sharpen their skills and learn some new tricks.

What They Learned

Baristas from Dolche Vita, Sibson Café, and the Gulbenkian Café spent the day with the coffee pros from Garage Coffee.

Here’s what they learnt:

  • Nailing the Basics: From getting the grind just right to brewing the perfect cup, the team now knows how to make the coffee taste even better.
  • Tasting the “Ambition” Blend: They sampled the new and exclusive “Ambition” blend, which has notes of chocolate, vanilla, and pecan. It’s set to be a hit with customers!
  • Getting the Grind Right: The baristas learned how to adjust grinders to ensure every cup is spot-on, no matter how it’s brewed.
  • Perfecting Espresso: Espresso is at the core of many drinks, and the team practiced pulling perfect shots and making espresso-based favourites like lattes and cappuccinos.
  • Steaming Milk Like Pros: They focused on steaming milk to create smooth microfoam, perfect for that silky latte texture.
  • Latte Art Fun: Latte art is a favourite, and the team learned some cool techniques to make drinks look as good as they taste.
