He has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Universidad Autonoma de Puebla\u00a0in Mexico and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of\u00a0Waterloo in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Carlos said: &#8216;My main research focus has been to further our knowledge of the advantages and limitations that quantum theory conveys to communication, computation, metrology, and security.&#8217; His work has gained global media attention and been cited on wikipedia.<\/p>\n<p>Dominic is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cs.kent.ac.uk\/research\/groups\/plas\/\">Programming Languages and Systems Research Group<\/a> and will be teaching on the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cs.kent.ac.uk\/ug\/year-in-computing.html\">Year in Computing<\/a> programme.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_993\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-993\" style=\"width: 246px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/files\/2016\/10\/dominic-photo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-993 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/files\/2016\/10\/dominic-photo-246x300.jpg\" alt=\"dominic-photo\" width=\"246\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/files\/2016\/10\/dominic-photo-246x300.jpg 246w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/files\/2016\/10\/dominic-photo.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 246px) 100vw, 246px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-993\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr Dominic Orchard<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Dominic has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the\u00a0University of Warwick and PhD in Computer Science from the University of\u00a0Cambridge. He worked as a Research Associate\u00a0at Imperial College London and Cambridge before joining the\u00a0University of Kent. He is a fellow of the Software Sustainability Institute.
