Two student teams from the School of Computing won prizes at an annual University innovation event.\u00a0The ICE (Innovation, Creativity and Enterprise) Showcase 2016<\/a> on 28 April brought together academics, students and business owners\u00a0from across the South East\u00a0to learn more about issues, hot topics and cutting-edge innovation.<\/p>\n

The Student Knowledge Exchange winners were final year students based at the Medway campus who have been working as KITC consultants<\/a>. The team consistent of\u00a0Arolape Adebowale,\u00a0Ceylon Bali,\u00a0David Laban,\u00a0Ryan Birch and\u00a0Alexander\u00a0Zarach.<\/p>\n

School Poster winner, voted for on the day of the event by the delegates, was won by team MOGUL (Jesse Orange, Ashley Thomson, Elliot Massey and Matt Rhodes) for the poster of its\u00a0music app, which has been developed as a\u00a0final year project.\"ICE<\/a><\/p>\n

School experts were also invited to contribute to the event.\u00a0Dr Budi Arief gave a master class titled ‘Cyber Security: It\u2019s a Socio-Technical Challenge’, and Dan Knox, Makerspace Technician, gave a class on ‘Internet of Things “The Smart City” context’.<\/p>\n

As well as talks, delegates had a unique opportunity to see a selection of the University’s latest innovations and technologies at the event\u2019s Innovation Zone. The School of Computing also contributed to\u00a0this\u00a0with a Lego City which demonstrated how Internet of Things sensors and actuators can be used to enhance existing public services.<\/p>\n
