{"id":838,"date":"2016-03-02T15:37:32","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T15:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/?p=838"},"modified":"2016-03-04T12:18:31","modified_gmt":"2016-03-04T12:18:31","slug":"year-in-computing-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/2016\/03\/02\/year-in-computing-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"Year in Computing launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many students are keen to learn the tech skills that will make them stand out to a graduate employer, or simply want to learn more about computing for their own interests.<\/p>\n<p>The School of Computing is now offering a &#8216;Year in Computing&#8217; for all Kent undergraduate students. This extra year can be taken after stage 2 or the final year of a students&#8217; current\u00a0degree programme.<\/p>\n<p>The Year in Computing will especially be of interest to students if;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>they\u00a0are\u00a0interested in studying computing AND their\u00a0current degree,<\/li>\n<li>they\u00a0would like to get prepared for a career in tech,<\/li>\n<li>they\u00a0are interested in exploring the frontiers of their subject and computing,<\/li>\n<li>they\u00a0want to learn how to be creative with computing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cs.kent.ac.uk\/people\/staff\/cgj\/\">Colin Johnson<\/a> who is heading up the programme\u00a0said; &#8216;We have had a very positive response from students across all disciplines about the Year in Computing.
