{"id":763,"date":"2015-11-25T16:31:52","date_gmt":"2015-11-25T16:31:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/?p=763"},"modified":"2015-11-25T16:31:52","modified_gmt":"2015-11-25T16:31:52","slug":"anna-jordanous-completes-marathon-in-aid-of-academic-collaborator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/2015\/11\/25\/anna-jordanous-completes-marathon-in-aid-of-academic-collaborator\/","title":{"rendered":"Anna Jordanous completes marathon in aid of academic collaborator"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p>Dr Anna Jordanous, Lecturer in the School of Computing has\u00a0completed a &#8216;wet, windy, rainy, and crazily muddy&#8217; marathon to fundraise for a friend.<\/p>\n<p>Anna completed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hermesrunning.com\/\">Thames Meander Marathon<\/a>\u00a0in aid of her friend and collaborator Alan Stanley who was recently paralysed in an accident.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I finished my marathon, running every step of the way and running a personal best\u00a0of 4:38. I\u2019m very happy indeed, as I had a target of 4:45 to beat and my previous best was 4:56.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\">\n<p>&#8216;More than once on the day of the marathon, it helped me a lot to think about my friend Alan, for whom I am raising money. It makes fundraising very personal when you can see exactly where that money will go and what it will do for a person\u2019s life.<br class=\"\" \/>&#8216;If anyone else would still like to sponsor me, then that would be great!
