{"id":3313,"date":"2022-08-03T10:37:43","date_gmt":"2022-08-03T09:37:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/?p=3313"},"modified":"2022-08-03T10:37:43","modified_gmt":"2022-08-03T09:37:43","slug":"hr-go-and-university-of-kent-gets-go-ahead-from-innovate-uk-to-investigate-full-potential-of-ai-and-machine-learning-to-revolutionise-uk-recruitment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/2022\/08\/03\/hr-go-and-university-of-kent-gets-go-ahead-from-innovate-uk-to-investigate-full-potential-of-ai-and-machine-learning-to-revolutionise-uk-recruitment\/","title":{"rendered":"HR GO and University of Kent gets go ahead from Innovate UK to investigate full potential of AI and machine learning to revolutionise UK recruitment."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s12\">HR GO, one of the UK\u2019s leading recruitment companies, and the University of Kent have been successful in a joint application for a knowledge transfer partnership (KTP) from Innovate UK, the UK\u2019s innovation agency.<\/span><span class=\"s12\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s12\">The award for<\/span><span class=\"s12\"> \u00a393,177 <\/span><span class=\"s12\">will <\/span><span class=\"s12\">provide half the cost of<\/span><span class=\"s12\"> a two-year research project exploring how technology can better match roles with clients, including improving the feedback job seekers receive.<\/span><span class=\"s12\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s12\">HR GO will match fund the grant, resulting in a total project budget of \u00a3186,350.<\/span><span class=\"s12\"> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s12\">KTPs aim to help businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, <\/span><span class=\"s12\">technology<\/span><span class=\"s12\"> and skills within the UK knowledge base.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s12\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s12\">John Parkinson, Chief Information Officer, HR GO, said: \u201cWe are delighted to have been successful in our application to UKRI for a knowledge transfer partnership (KTP) with the University of Kent.<\/span><span class=\"s12\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s12\">\u201cThis project will develop innovative AI models and systems to deliver feedback, scoring and matching of candidates at scale. At present, we receive over 500,000 applications for work each year<\/span><span class=\"s12\"> for roles across all sectors, and across the whole of the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s12\">\u201cThese AI models will power a semi-automated <\/span><span class=\"s12\">communications<\/span><span class=\"s12\"> process to deliver<\/span><span class=\"s12\"> enhanced feedback to candidates whilst helping HR GO\u2019s clients ensure they find the best possible candidates to meet their needs.<\/span><span class=\"s12\">\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s12\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s12\">The project team is now in the process of hiring an associate, who will be delivering the project over the two years. In addition to being tasked with analysing millions of points of HR GO data, they will consider all aspects of machine learning and AI development, from ethics to avoiding bias.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s12\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s13\"><span class=\"s12\">Dr Anna <\/span><span class=\"s12\">Jordanous<\/span><span class=\"s12\">, senior lecturer at the University of Kent&#8217;s School of Computing and co-lead of the project said: \u201cThis is a fascinating opportunity to work with complex real-life data.
