{"id":2575,"date":"2020-09-28T10:41:57","date_gmt":"2020-09-28T09:41:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/?p=2575"},"modified":"2020-09-28T10:41:57","modified_gmt":"2020-09-28T09:41:57","slug":"another-bumper-year-of-placements-for-computing-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/unikentcomp-news\/2020\/09\/28\/another-bumper-year-of-placements-for-computing-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Another bumper year of placements for Computing students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2020 we are used to hearing bad news, but the placements team in the School of Computing are bucking that trend. 54 students have secured a Year in Industry working in paid tech roles in a range of sectors from banking to local government.<\/p>\n<p>Industrial Placement Officer Katie Van Sanden said: &#8216;It\u2019s wonderful that so many of our students have\u00a0managed to secure placements this year. It goes to show that the skills they are developing at university are highly valued by organisations in even the toughest of employment circumstances.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The School has developed close relationships with employers who often\u00a0choose to employ students from Kent, year after year. As usual many of this year\u2019s placements have also been generated by alumni and friends of the School, a perfect example of the organic growth and continued success of our Year in Industry program.<\/p>\n<p>Katie continued; &#8216;It has been a bit of a roller-coaster ride for our placement students with some offers of employment being withdrawn and other job offers coming very late indeed.
