Dr\u00a0Jason Nurse<\/a>\u00a0has earned a well-deserved promotion to Senior Lecturer. Since joining the School of Computing in July 2018, Jason has become heavily involved in the University and School, and in the advancement of cyber security research and teaching locally and internationally.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This has included becoming Director of Public Engagement of the Kent Interdisciplinary Research Centre in Cyber Security (KirCCS<\/a>), Theme lead for the Sciences for the Conflict, Security, Rights and Violence<\/a> Kent Signature Research Theme, and Seminar organiser for the Cyber Security Group. In addition to this, Jason has been appointed as an Expert Fellow in the EPSRC-funded Security, Privacy, Identity, and Trust Engagement NetworkPlus (SPRITE+<\/a>) and a Visiting Academic<\/a> at the University of Oxford.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jason\u2019s research focuses on cyber security, privacy and trust in relation to individuals and organisations. His funded projects span various areas including the\u00a0EPSRC-funded PRoCEED<\/a>\u00a0grant looking into making chatbots more trustworthy, and an\u00a0NCSC\/RISCS-funded ICCI<\/a>\u00a0project investigating the extent to which cyber security can be incentivised through cyber insurance.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In addition to this, Jason is a regular public speaker and contributes to various news articles, where he gives his expert opinion (e.g.,\u00a0Wall Street Journal<\/a>, Newsweek Japan<\/a>,\u00a0The Conversation<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Wired UK<\/a>). He has featured in children\u2019s book called Fantastic jobs and how to get them<\/a> \u2013 a book about encouraging children into STEM. His teaching has been recognised by an\u00a0Above and Beyond Award<\/a>\u00a0from Kent Union and he has received awards for research publications as well (e.g.,\u00a0CUI\u20192020<\/a>,\u00a0ICWSM\u201920<\/a>,\u00a0NDSS\u201919)<\/a>. Not bad for two year\u2019s work!<\/p>\n
