If learning more about the Erlang programming language has been on your to-do list, then you are in luck.<\/p>\n<p>A MOOC (Massive Open Online Course)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.futurelearn.com\/courses\/functional-programming-erlang\">Functional Programming in Erlang<\/a> will be available from 4 May 2020 on the FutureLearn platform. The course is free and\u00a0designed for anyone with prior programming experience, whether self-taught or professional.<\/p>\n<p>This University of Kent designed course will teach theory and practice, through practical exercises and suggested projects and includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Getting started programming in Erlang<\/li>\n<li>Programs and functions in Erlang<\/li>\n<li>Data structures using lists<\/li>\n<li>Tools for Erlang programming<\/li>\n<li>Functions as data, and higher-order functions<\/li>\n<li>Case studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You&#8217;ll learn with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cs.kent.ac.uk\/people\/staff\/sjt\/\">Professor Simon Thompson<\/a> co-author of one of the standard introductions to Erlang, O\u2019Reilly Media\u2019s\u00a0<em>Erlang Programming<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many people are using the Covid-19 lockdown as an opportunity to learn new skills.
