The School of Computing has appointed a Chief Researcher at BT Research\u00a0and Innovation to its staff. Dr Theo Dimitrakos will begin his two-year,\u00a0part-time professorship in September 2013.<\/p>\n
Professor Frank Wang, Head of the School of Computing said: “I am\u00a0delighted to announce the appointment of Theo Dimitrakos. Theo combines\u00a0deep technical knowledge with strong leadership skills. He also has the\u00a0experience of managing large-scale international research collaborations\u00a0and innovation delivery projects. He has been the scientific coordinator\u00a0and technical manager of some of the largest and most successful research\u00a0and innovation initiatives in Europe and we are confident he will\u00a0contribute significantly to our REF submissions and will shape the future\u00a0of the School\u2019s research.”<\/p>\n
Theo has 20 years of research experience in information and communications\u00a0technology and, at BT, he leads innovation activities on information\u00a0security. His research interests include cloud computing security, cyber\u00a0security, data confidentiality and data leak protection, trust management\u00a0and reputation systems, identity and access management, uncertainty\u00a0reasoning and formal logic.<\/p>\n
Theo has been a member of expert groups in the European Network and\u00a0Information Security Agency, as well as the chair of the International\u00a0Federation for Information Processing working group on Trust Management.\u00a0He has written technical books, scientific publications and patent\u00a0applications. Theo has been an invited speaker in leading government,\u00a0industry and academic conferences and has lectured at King\u2019s College\u00a0London.<\/p>\n
Theo has recently worked with the School\u2019s Professor David Chadwick to\u00a0submit three proposals to the EC call for FED4FIRE experiments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
