Staff, students and alumni were invited to submit photographs that captured the essence of the beautiful cities in the UK and Europe where the University of Kent has campuses and centres.<\/p>\n<p>Katie&#8217;s photograph &#8216;Artist at work amongst the pillars of Rome&#8217; was one of 130 entries and was announced as the winner for Rome. Katie&#8217;s black and white photo will now be displayed in the Vice-Chancellor&#8217;s office, alongside the other winners.<\/p>\n<p>The judges commented on the creativity of the winners and their interpretations of the centres, cities and what it means to be the University of Kent in these places.<\/p>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1517825915748_116111\" class=\"view sub-photo-title-desc-view\">\n<p>The other winners were;<\/p>\n<p>Athens &#8211; Marina Watt, Staff<\/p>\n<p>Paris &#8211; Alice Helliwell, Student<\/p>\n<p>Brussels &#8211; Vanessa Wyns, Student<\/p>\n<p>Medway &#8211; Emma Harrington, Staff<\/p>\n<p>Canterbury &#8211; Simon Hicks, Staff and Anamika Misra, Student<\/p>\n<p>Honourable mention for Canterbury &#8211; Claire Dowling, Student<\/p>\n<p>All of the entries are available on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/groups\/4161349@N20\/pool\/\">Flickr<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Katie Van Sanden, Placement Officer in the School of Computing, has been announced as a winner in the Vice-Chancellor&#8217;s photographic competition.
