Congratulations to academics in the Division of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, who have recently been awarded three Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP). The total value of the three projects for the Division is over £500,000 from Innovate UK.
A KTP enables a business to bring in new skills and the latest academic thinking to deliver a specific, strategic innovation project through a knowledge-based partnership.
The KTPs are:
- Dr Robert Horne and Dr Viktorija Makarovaite, at the School of Engineering, will work with Smith and Nephew, a leading portfolio medical technology company.
- Dr Daniel Soria and Dr Fernando Otero, of the School of Computing, will work with The Hurley Group, an NHS Partnership providing patient-centered care in London.
- Dr Christos Efstratiou and Dr Fernando Otero, of the School of Computing, along with Professor Marialena Nikolopoulou (Division of Arts and Humanities) will work with Baxall Construction, a contractor delivering new build, refurbishment, project management and design and build solutions. This is the first KTP across these Divisions.
Clare Witcher, Business Industry & Relationship Officer, said ‘there was an unprecedented number of submissions for this round so to have 100% success in such a competitive round of funding is a huge testament to the expertise in Division and quality of applications’.
