BSc Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) student Simona Paraskevopoulou, currently undertaking her Industry Placement with Jefferies, will represent the company at a networking session for STEM Women‘s UK Graduate Careers event this week.
Since starting her studies at Kent, Simona has undertaken a variety at internships, starting with a week-long Technology Spring Internship at Morgan Stanley during her first year. That summer, Simona also completed a 12-week summer internship at Jefferies, during which she spent the first 6 weeks within the Infrastructure division, and the second 6 weeks working with the Information Security Department.
During her second year of her studies, Simona worked with Information Security as an Off-Cycle part-time intern for a year, balancing her studies with going to the company’s London office twice a week.
This academic year, Simona started her Industrial Placement with Jefferies, and spent the first months with Information Security. In January, Simona joined the Fixed Income IT team, and in a few months will move to the Equity IT team. Simona says: ‘I’m working in these different departments so that I can get experience across multiple technology divisions for my year-long placement, and the firm and I can evaluate where I perform best’.
‘I have been asked to support our firm’s networking session, and intend to provide my experience working for Jefferies so that prospective applicants can learn more. I will also share my insight into being a woman in Technology/Finance. The aim of our participation in this event is to increase our brand awareness and share opportunities available for the attendants’.
