Over 100 students have once again embarked on industry placements with the support of the team in the School of Computing. Placement Officers Sian Robson and Katie Van Sanden announced that 113 students will be on placement for the 2016/17 academic year. This includes nine Master’s students, 24 undergraduates studying at Medway and 80 undergraduate students based at the Canterbury campus.
Katie said: ‘The students are based in 67 companies across 76 locations, and there is the usual mix of industries from finance to public sector, pharmaceutical to retail, charities to entertainment/leisure and plenty of big tech or small IT solutions companies. Roles range from business analysts and project-management to web-development, software/application development, software engineering and IT/networks support.’
The students will be based in a variety of locations from towns in Kent to Silicon Valley in the United States. The placement officers aim to visit each student at their workplace.
All undergraduate and Master’s students in the School of Computing have the option of adding an industrial placement to their degree programme. Many placement students are offered employment and start their graduate careers at their placement organisation.
