Dear\u00a0University of Kent UCU members,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>As you\u00a0should now have heard directly from UCU, our branch will be joining many other\u00a0UCU\u00a0branches in taking strike action over pay, equality,\u00a0anti-casualisation and workload\u00a0 We will be taking\u00a0taking\u00a08\u00a0days of\u00a0strike\u00a0action\u00a0from\u00a0Monday\u00a025<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0November\u00a0(week10)\u00a0till\u00a0Wednesday\u00a04<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0December\u00a0(week 11)\u00a0inclusive.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>We will keep you informed of developments. For now, please be assured: <\/span>WE HAVE YOUR BACK.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>We\u00a0have\u00a0a healthy strike fund out of which\u00a0we\u00a0can subsidise lost income\u00a0from the very first day of industrial action.\u00a0 Claimants last time found the process remarkably easy and quick \u2013 just ask around.\u00a0 Last time claimants could receive up to \u00a350 per day.\u00a0\u00a0On the first day of strike action, we\u00a0will hold a branch meeting and will\u00a0be seeking to pass a motion which will provide for more generous local support than during the last strike<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0After one or two\u00a0days\u2019\u00a0support from the local fund, eligibility for support from the national Fighting Fund will kick in\u00a0See:\u00a0\u00a0https:\/\/www.ucu.org.uk\/article\/10333\/Strike-fund-support<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>We will also be taking action to help provide striking members with sustenance on campus while they are on strike.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During the\u00a0spring 2018\u00a0industrial action, thanks to\u00a0University of\u00a0Kent UCU pressure, University of Kent\u00a0management\u00a0agreed not to financially penalise GTAs for striking.\u00a0 Moreover, HPLs\u00a0were offered replacement teaching to compensate for paid hours lost to action.\u00a0\u00a0Whatever happens this time, UCU\u00a0have\u00a0the resources to help.
