{"id":383,"date":"2019-10-17T15:50:08","date_gmt":"2019-10-17T14:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ucuuok\/?p=383"},"modified":"2019-10-17T15:50:08","modified_gmt":"2019-10-17T14:50:08","slug":"we-have-your-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ucuuok\/2019\/10\/17\/we-have-your-back\/","title":{"rendered":"We have your back!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-369\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ucuuok\/files\/2019\/09\/UCU1-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ucuuok\/files\/2019\/09\/UCU1-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ucuuok\/files\/2019\/09\/UCU1.jpg 471w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dear All,<\/p>\n<p>Some UCU members on precarious contracts, or who are financially unstable for other reasons, are understandably anxious about striking and its financial consequences.<\/p>\n<p>If this is you, Kent branch UCU has good news for you:\u00a0<strong>we\u2019ve\u00a0got\u00a0your\u00a0back<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0We\u00a0have\u00a0a healthy strike fund out of which\u00a0we\u00a0can subsidise lost income\u00a0<strong>from the very first day of industrial action<\/strong>.\u00a0 Claimants last time found the process remarkably easy and quick \u2013 just ask around.\u00a0 Last time claimants could receive up to \u00a350 per day.\u00a0\u00a0This time that\u00a0<strong>we\u00a0are planning to be more\u00a0generous<\/strong>\u00a0(update to come later).\u00a0 After one or two\u00a0days\u2019\u00a0support from the local fund\u00a0(depending on whether you earn more or less than\u00a0\u00a330k\u00a0\u200b), eligibility for support from the National Fighting Fund will kick in.
