I come from a background in technology, with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications (BCA) and a Master’s degree in Computer Applications (MCA).
During my studies, I developed a strong interest in technology and gained practical experience through an internship in Cyber Security at ISRO. After completing my studies, I started my professional career in the Salesforce and technology space. I have nearly 4 years of experience as a Salesforce Administrator, where I have worked on Salesforce environments, client onboarding, process improvement, and supporting business requirements. This experience has helped me develop strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills while working with different teams and clients.
Over time, I realised that I wanted to understand the business and management side of technology as well. This led me to pursue an MBA at the University of Kent, where I hope to broaden my perspective, strengthen my leadership and decision-making skills, and learn how business strategies can be applied in real-world situations. I am now looking forward to learning from a diverse group of people, getting involved in university activities and events, and using this experience to grow both personally and professionally.
Top achievements
There are three achievements that I am particularly proud of:
- completing my internship at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)
- reaching the final stage of the SSB selection process for the Indian Navy, and
- being selected to pursue my MBA at the University of Kent.
My internship at ISRO gave me the opportunity to work in a highly professional and technically challenging environment. It was an important learning experience that helped me build practical skills, confidence, and a strong work ethic.
I am also proud of my experience with the SSB selection process for the Indian Navy. The process lasted five days and involved multiple interviews, assessments, and group activities. I successfully progressed through the different stages and reached the Conference Out stage on the fifth day. Although I was not selected in the end, reaching that stage was a significant achievement for me. It taught me valuable lessons about discipline, teamwork, resilience, confidence, and performing under pressure.
Another achievement that means a lot to me is being selected to pursue my MBA at the University of Kent in the UK. Taking this step represents an important milestone in my academic and professional journey. After building my career in the technology and Salesforce field, choosing to pursue an MBA is a step outside my comfort zone and an opportunity to broaden my knowledge and develop my understanding of business, management, and leadership. All three experiences have taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance, continuous learning, and believing in myself, and I am proud to carry these lessons into the next chapter of my journey.
Why did you choose the Kent MBA?
I chose the Kent MBA because I wanted to move beyond my technical background and develop a stronger understanding of business, management, leadership, and strategy. One of the main reasons I chose Kent is the range of modules offered by the MBA. Modules such as Responsible Leadership and Ethics, Operations and Project Management, Strategic and Digital Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Business Strategy in the Global Economy, Sustainable Financial Management, and Business Analytics will help me develop a well-rounded understanding of different areas of business. Overall, I see the Kent MBA as an opportunity to step outside my comfort zone, broaden my perspective, strengthen my leadership and decision-making skills, and connect my technology experience with business and management.
MBA goals
My long-term goals is to start my own company. I am still exploring and looking for the right business idea, so I want to use my MBA journey to understand different industries, identify real-world problems, and learn how successful businesses are built and managed.
Initially, my goal is to gain valuable global experience by working with people from different countries and backgrounds and gaining exposure to international business environments. I want to improve my leadership, strategic thinking, decision-making, communication, and business management skills.
I also want to become more confident in taking initiatives, working with diverse teams, and turning ideas into practical solutions. I believe the experience, knowledge, and connections I gain during my MBA will help me understand what it takes to eventually build and manage my own business.
What are your aspirations post MBA?
After completing my MBA, my initial goal is to gain valuable global work experience and understand how businesses operate in different markets and cultures. I want to work in a role where I can combine my existing technology experience with the business, management, and leadership knowledge I gain from my MBA.
Over time, I would like to move towards management and leadership responsibilities, where I can lead teams, manage projects, and contribute to business decisions. My long-term aspiration is to start my own company. I am still exploring the right idea, and I see the experience after my MBA as an important step in identifying a meaningful business opportunity and understanding how to turn an idea into a sustainable business. Ultimately, I want to build a career that allows me to keep learning, take on new challenges, work with diverse people, and eventually create something of my own.
What is the best lesson you have learned in business?
The biggest lesson I have learned from my work experience is that business is not just about having good technical skills or finding the right solution. It is also about understanding people, communicating well, and creating real value for customers.
Working in the technology and Salesforce field has taught me that even a technically strong solution may not be successful if it does not solve the customer’s actual problem. I have learned the importance of listening, understanding different viewpoints, communicating clearly, and working together as a team.
I have also realised that good management is largely about people. It is important to understand your team, support them, motivate them, and make decisions while considering both the business goals and the people involved. These experiences have encouraged me to look beyond the technical side and understand business and management from a broader perspective. This is one of the main reasons I decided to pursue an MBA to build on my experience and become more confident in management, leadership, and decision-making.
Tell us something about you that may surprise your colleagues?
Something that may surprise my colleagues is that I am actually quite an introverted person. I can sometimes find it difficult to get involved in a new group or start conversations, especially when I meet people for the first time. However, through my work and regular client meetings, I have gradually learned to step out of my comfort zone and communicate confidently when needed. I still feel that this is an area I want to improve. One of my goals during my MBA is to become more confident in group discussions, networking, presentations, and meeting new people.
Another side of me that people may not expect is that I have always wanted to build something of my own one day. I do not have the exact business idea yet, but I have always had an entrepreneurial mindset, and this is one of the reasons I decided to pursue an MBA.
When I was in India, I travelled a lot and loved exploring new places and going on adventures. I enjoy experiences that challenge me or put me under a little pressure because they push me to think differently, stay calm, and learn something new. I think I am a mix of someone who enjoys their own space but also wants to grow, meet new people, take on challenges, and become more confident along the way.
