I am the Head of Operations & Client Relations at a growing technology consultancy in Kent. My role covers a wide range of responsibilities, from client relationships to operational processes, from compliance to HR.
Previously, I worked in the healthcare industry, initially supporting an executive team during a period of rapid growth before progressing into contract management, where I was responsible for NHS contracts covering autism and ADHD diagnosis and treatment services.
Before that, I cut my teeth working in the legal sector. Working across different industries has given me a broad perspective on how organisations operate, and sparked a strong interest in business strategy, improvement, and development.
Top achievements
I am particularly proud of my professional progression, moving from administrative and support roles into positions with increasing responsibility in commercial relationships, operations, and business development.
In my previous role, I had the opportunity to contribute to the organisation’s growth, improve reporting and processes, and manage relationships with NHS commissioners during a period where revenue grew from £1m to £8m over two years.
More recently, I have enjoyed establishing the operational foundations needed to support the continued development of my current organisation, and I am excited to take the lead on new projects.
Why did you choose the Kent MBA?
Having grown up in Canterbury, I’ve always had a personal connection with the University of Kent. I attended school nearby and spent a decent amount of time on campus growing up, so the opportunity to study here has a particular significance for me.
Beyond that personal connection, I was attracted by the MBA’s practical approach to learning and the opportunity to engage with professionals from different industries and backgrounds.
My interest in the MBA was cemented after attending the Kent and Medway Business Summit in September 2026, particularly because of the role the University plays in supporting the regional business community. As someone building my career in Kent, the opportunity to develop professionally while strengthening local connections was especially appealing.
MBA goals
Having developed much of my professional experience through practical, on-the-job learning, I want to use the MBA to build a stronger, more informed theoretical foundation and develop a well-rounded understanding of business management. I am particularly excited to strengthen my knowledge of strategy, finance, leadership, and organisational development, alongside developing my capabilities in project and change management.
What are your aspirations post MBA?
My long-term ambition is to progress into senior executive leadership, eventually taking on director-level or C-suite responsibilities.
I am particularly interested in combining strategic direction with operational delivery, helping manage change, develop people, and grow organisations sustainably. I would also like to make a meaningful contribution to the Kent business community, supporting the development of local businesses and creating opportunities to strengthen the local skills pipeline.
What is the best lesson you have learned in business?
The most important lesson that I have learned is that good management strengthens everything an organisation does.
Processes and strategies might look perfect on paper, but they can quickly fall apart if the people delivering them do not understand the objectives, feel unsupported, or believe their concerns are not being heard. Effective management is not just about giving direction. It is also about listening, communicating clearly, and creating an environment where people are equipped and motivated to achieve excellence.
Tell us something about you that may surprise your colleagues?
Something that might surprise people is that I spent time volunteering in Madagascar, taking part in marine and forest conservation projects and teaching English as a foreign language. It was an experience that took me far outside of my comfort zone, exposed me to a wide variety of people and different ways of life, and is one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
