UK, MBA 2019
“Focus on being productive instead of busy.” – Tim Ferris
I’ve always wanted to do an MBA. It is, rightly so, considered to be the highest achievement in the business sector and I feel it will benefit both me personally, but also the NHS Trust I work for.
I am currently the Head of Category Management at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, responsible for all Procurement, Contracting and Commercial activity for the large multi-site acute NHS Trust. Prior to this, I worked across the Health and Social Care sector, as a Commissioning lead developing hospital discharge pathways, reducing hospital stays, increasing independence and improving outcomes for the most vulnerable people in society. Professionally, I am particularly interested in how to leverage supply chains to maximise financial benefits for end workers, generally in low paid roles, through the utilisation of innovative commercial models.
Outside of work, I enjoy walking (playing!) with Cheddar, my cockapoo, and holidaying with my wife.
Achievements
- Within my previous organisation, I was programme lead for the redesign of a £1.2Bn adult social care pathway, responsible for delivering care and support to in excess of 8,000 people at any one time. In challenging financial times, with increased levels of need, this was delivered successfully on time, within scope and budget.
- I have successfully gone from ‘procurement graduate’ to head of service within 6 years.
Aspirations
Having recently established a niche consultancy company, specifically delivering procurement, commercial and commissioning expertise across the health and social care sector, I hope to develop this further and grow my business.
Advice
Be open to new ideas, be prepared to change your mind and consider others viewpoints.
